Interesting Places in East Java

East Java is one of provinces in Indonesia It has population with 48,000 km² landmass, including Madura island. Java ethnic is the biggest ethnic in East Java. But there are also many Maduranese living in the territorial of East Java. While “Tengger” people are minority society who live in the territorial of Bromo Mountain, one of mountain in East Java. Almost in every residence/city in East Java has a tour place. Thus, East Java is famous for its places of interest.

One of famous places in East Java is National Park Bromo-Semeru. National Park Bromo-Semeru is a land sea with 5,250 hectar wide. It serves the scenery of Semeru and Bromo mountain. Semeru mountain is the highest mountain in Java island and is one of vulcano in Indonesia that is still active. The uniqueness of this mountain is its kettle that is always bring out the blow continously in once a 15-20 minutes, cause cloud of smoke of dust even sometimes mix with cobblestone to the air. While Bromo mountain has , and 2,392 m high from the surface of the sea. On the top of this mountain, spread out sand sea with 10 km square wide with several little mountains in the middle of it. One of the little mountain is Batok mountain.

Another famous place is Panataran temple. Panataran temple is a Hindu temple located in the southwest edge of kelud mountain in the north of Blitar. This temple complex is the biggest in East Java. Besides, Panatarn temple has also a uniqueness in its iconography relief. Its relief style shows something different from any Middle Javan temple before 11th century, such as Prambanan temple. In Panatarn temple, the shape of human relief described like leather puppet.

Finally, the most famous place in East Java is Tugu Pahlawan. Corcerning of the tragedy in 10th November of 1945 and other struggling histories, Surabaya well-knowned as “Kota Pahlawan”. This reason also which become the reason of the contruction of Tugu Pahlawan. The shape is like a high rocket located in Kebonrojo park beyond the governor office in the down town of Surabaya. This monument is not too decorative and big. Its simplicity shows modest and inarrogant character. Every year, in 10th November, held the anniversary of “hari pahlawan” in this place to recall the heroes who had been fall in maintaining the freedom.
